Build automatic TikTok comment and message replies
Watch the original Autoobot walkthrough, then use the written sections below for the current controls, requirements, and troubleshooting steps.
Watch on YouTubeQuick start
Follow these five checkpoints to launch your first reliable automation.
Connect the TikTok account and approve the requested permissions.
Confirm that messaging access and Direct messages from Everyone are enabled.
Publish an account-wide or post-specific comment campaign.
Create a published DM bot with keywords or AI training data.
Test the flow and confirm delivery in Inbox, Message Log, and Reports.
Step 1
Before you begin
TikTok controls which business messaging features each account can use. Complete these checks before building an automation.
Business access
DM bots and native automatic messages require the TikTok business entitlements shown for your account. Verification or Advanced Access may be required.
Allow direct messages
In TikTok, open Settings and privacy, then Privacy, Direct messages, and allow messages from Everyone.
Approve permissions
During connection, approve the requested profile, video, comment, and messaging permissions so Autoobot can load content and send replies.
Reconnect after changes
If you verify the business later, change access, or see a reconnect warning, connect the account again to refresh its permissions.
TikTok changes access rules over time. Use the eligibility and API status shown in Autoobot as the final status for each connected account.
Step 2
Connect a TikTok account
Autoobot needs a connected TikTok account to load videos, receive events, and send replies from the correct business identity.
- 1Go to Connected Accounts and choose Continue with TikTok.
- 2Sign in to TikTok, select the correct account, and approve every requested permission.
- 3Return to Autoobot and confirm that the account shows Connected instead of Needs reconnect.
- 4If messaging features remain unavailable after verification, reconnect the account to obtain the new access.
Owner login
The TikTok identity can sign in to Autoobot and switch into this workspace.
Asset only
The workspace can automate this account, but the TikTok identity cannot use it to sign in.
A reconnect refreshes authorization; it does not delete your existing campaigns or bots.
Recommended workflow
Move a public comment into a private conversation
When direct private replies from a comment are unavailable, invite the customer to send a short identifier through the message box under the video, then let a DM bot answer it.
- 1Publish a public comment reply asking the customer to send a specific number, word, or offer ID in a direct message.
- 2The customer opens TikTok messages from the video and sends that identifier privately.
- 3A published Autoobot DM bot matches the identifier using an Exact keyword filter.
- 4The bot sends the matching price, property details, link, or next step in the private conversation.
Example conversation flow
- Public comment reply
- Send “1” in a private message and we will send you the price and full details.
- Exact keyword alternatives
- 1 · ١ · one · واحد · property-17
- Private bot reply
- Thanks for your interest. Here are the price, availability, and next steps for offer 1.
Add the ways your audience may type the same identifier, including Arabic and Latin digits, written words, and campaign-specific IDs.
Open DM BotsStep 4
Build DM bots and AI replies
DM bots answer incoming private messages for one TikTok account. Bots run in priority order, and the first eligible bot handles the message.
- 1Select the connected TikTok account at the top of DM Bots.
- 2Create a new bot or select an existing one, then use a clear name that identifies its purpose.
- 3Set the bot to Published. A Draft bot keeps its settings but does not answer messages.
- 4Choose Keyword filters for predictable answers or AI for answers based on training data.
- 5For keyword mode, choose Exact or Contains and add every expected keyword alternative to the correct reply.
- 6Reorder bots by priority, then configure the separate account fallback for messages no eligible bot handles.
Design reliable keyword filters
Use Exact for short identifiers and offer numbers. Group equivalent spellings in one filter, and create a separate filter and response for each product or campaign.
1, ١, one, واحد, property-17What to include in AI training data
Define the bot's role, tone, language, and the type of customers it serves.
List accurate product or service names, prices, availability, locations, and links.
Explain delivery, returns, opening hours, booking rules, and escalation paths.
Tell the AI what it must not invent and when it should ask a human agent to continue.
Step 5
Configure TikTok Native Auto Messages
Native Auto Messages are TikTok-owned conversation starters. Autoobot lets eligible business accounts manage them from the Native Auto Messages tab.
Welcome message
Greets a person when they start a conversation with the business for the first time.
Suggested questions
Shows tappable common questions with the answer TikTok sends after the person selects one.
Chat prompts
Shows topic buttons that help customers begin the conversation with a clear intent.
TikTok reviews native message changes
New or edited native messages may remain pending while TikTok reviews them. Official guidance says review commonly takes 1–5 business days, and another review may be required after an edit.
TikTok Business Center setup guideOperate and improve
Use Inbox, Message Log, and Reports
Test every new automation and use Autoobot's monitoring views to confirm what arrived, what was sent, and why a run failed.
Inbox
Read TikTok comments and DMs, continue conversations manually, and resolve or snooze threads.
Message Log
Search incoming and outgoing messages and filter by TikTok channel, sender, and delivery status.
Reports
Review automation success totals and recent comment or bot failures across the workspace.
TikTok DM replies use a 48-hour window
Autoobot shows how much time remains after the customer's latest message. When the window expires, manual and automated replies are disabled until the customer messages again.
Solve common issues
Troubleshooting checklist
Start with the symptom below, then confirm the account, campaign, matching rule, and delivery log in that order.
My TikTok videos are missing
Confirm the correct account is selected, refresh the video list, and check that TikTok has published the content. If loading still fails, review permissions and reconnect the account.
The account says Needs reconnect
Open Connected Accounts and connect the same TikTok account again. Approve all requested permissions; your existing Autoobot settings remain stored.
Private reply controls are hidden
TikTok has not marked this account as eligible for Comment-to-Message. Use the public-comment-to-DM keyword workflow instead, and recheck after any business verification or access change.
A comment did not receive a reply
Check that the campaign is Active, confirm whether a post-specific campaign overrides the global fallback, verify the filter match and all 10 variations, then allow for the 9–15 second queue delay and inspect Reports.
A DM bot did not answer
Confirm the correct account, bot priority, and Published status; check Exact versus Contains and keyword spelling; then verify the account fallback, 48-hour window, and bot Logs tab.
A native message is pending or unavailable
Confirm verified business access, Direct messages from Everyone, and the API status in Native Auto Messages. Pending content must finish TikTok moderation before it becomes active.
Reports show a failed automation
Open Reports for the recent error, then use Message Log or the DM bot Logs tab for the related event. Reconnect the account for permission errors and contact support with the account, time, and error details if it continues.

Step 3
Automate TikTok comments
Create a general rule for the whole account or attach a dedicated campaign to one video. Both use the same reply modes and safety controls.
Account-wide fallback
Runs for a new comment when its video does not have an active post-specific campaign. Use it for a consistent reply across the account.
Post-specific campaign
Runs only for the selected video. Use it when a product, property, offer, or call to action needs its own reply flow.
Create the campaign
General reply
Send the same message intent regardless of the words in the comment.
Keyword filters
Send different answers for words such as price, address, availability, or an offer number.
AI reply
Generate a short answer from the role, products, prices, policies, and boundaries in your training data.
Exact or contains
Exact requires the whole comment to match. Contains also matches the keyword inside a longer sentence.
No-match fallback
For keyword mode, use a fallback for comments that match no filter, or leave it empty to send nothing.
Comment actions
Liking, hiding, and repeated-user replies are independent controls. Enable only the actions the campaign needs.
Public replies require 10 variations
Autoobot requires exactly 10 versions of every public reply, each no longer than 150 characters. Write them manually or use Generate variations, then review before saving. This is an Autoobot anti-duplication safeguard.
Public replies are intentionally queued for about 9–15 seconds, so an immediate reply should not be expected.
Private replies depend on TikTok eligibility
Comment-to-Message controls appear only when TikTok marks the account and comment flow as eligible. Availability can depend on account type, permissions, region, comment level, timing, age, and conversation history.
